JE DANSE MIEUX-ÊTRE (Mental health challenge)
Description
Je danse mieux-être offers a series of workshops for young people, aged 12 to 18, who are struggling with mental health issues.
These series of workshops are presented in three parts:
- Elaboration of self-exploration sessions using movement and breathing based on the Feldenkrais somatic method.
- Construction on the principles of dance creation.
- Application of acquired knowledge to explore expression through movement.
Objectives
- To offer an activity designed for young people and to connect them with their potential for achievement.
- To encourage young people to explore their creativity by connecting with their body and mind.
- To introduce young people to wellness through movement and, potentially, artistic expression.
- To develop a physical well-being, which will lead to a highly beneficial transfer to the mental well-being.
- To promote a cultural initiative that benefits the overall well-being of young people in our community.
Target audience
These workshops are aimed at young people aged 12 to 18 struggling with mental health issues, such as performance or generalized anxiety, stress management, low self-confidence, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, etc.
Calendar
Three series of workshops are planned to accommodate three age groups:
12-14 year olds | Secondary I et II | |
14-16 year olds | Secondary III et IV | |
16-18 year olds | Secondary V |
Each series of workshop consists of:
Bloc # 1 |
60 min. per week 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. September to December | |
Bloc # 2 |
75 min. per week 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. January to March |

Bloc # 3 |
90 min. per week 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. April to May |
*Participation to the workshop must be done in order 1,2 and 3.
NB:
- A minimum of 5 students from the same age group is required to start a group.
- The maximum capacity is 10 students per group to ensure the best chance of success in terms of mental health.
Participation fee
The registration fee is $50
The participation fee per block is calculated at a rate of $20.50/hour per 10 weeks
*Applicable taxes for youth aged 15 and over.

Participation Fee:
The registration fee is $50.
The participation fee is $200 per participant.
